When asking someone to be in your wedding as a bridesmaid, one thing a bride needs to realize is that it is an expensive endeavor. Costs can quickly add up - remember you're asking your bridesmaids to pay for a dress, matching shoes, professional hair and makeup, and costs associated with travel (if they are from out of town). Your bridesmaids may even help with the wedding shower by sharing the costs of that event. Lets not forget they're also going to provide you with a gift.
I always advise brides to take their time when choosing gifts for their bridesmaids - considering that they have to spend so much extra money on YOUR wedding. You should try and show your appreciation to them by choosing a thoughtful gift.
I recently found a fantastic company called BeeGee Bags that offers small designer style purses that are very retro looking and come in a variety of shapes and styles. I think these types of purses could be given as a gift to each bridesmaid and with so many styles to choose from, it would be easy to match them with the bridesmaids gowns, providing a great look for everyone on the wedding day.
Here are a few examples to consider:

Every client that I have always wants a really unique guest wedding favor. I'm always on a mission to find something fun, useful and of course super unique. Most of the wedding favors that I find are so interesting that many soon to be brides that are guests at another wedding are wanting the same item or upset that they didn't discover the favor first. I guess that's the benefit of hiring a Wedding Planner!
Beau Coup is a fantastic website to find unique gifts for your bridal party, bridal shower and wedding favors. One of my favorite items is a really adorable set of heart shaped measuring spoons. It has four clever and romantic phrases (A heap of love, A spoonful of affection, A dash of tenderness, A pinch of joy) engraved on the handle of each measuring spoon. They consist of traditional measurements (1/4 teaspoon, 1/2 teaspoon, 1 teaspoon, 1 tablespoon) and are listed on the back of the handle. Heart shaped spoons are made of stainless steel so they won't tarnish. This is a wonderful wedding favor that your guests will be able to use, and always remember you gave it to them.
The set of measuring spoons are presented in a black gift box with black velvet lining and clear lid. The box is also wrapped with white ribbon and the gift tag reads "Love Beyond Measure."
