They say the way to a woman’s heart is through what they love – some would argue that diamonds and chocolate are two of the most loved items. What better way to show the woman you love that you want to spend the rest of your life with her than to combine those items into a a chocolate diamond engagement ring! And no, we’re not talking about the edible kind!
As we all know, diamonds are the most expensive gemstones that one would want to own. They are stones dug out from mines, cut and polished until they appear gleaming and stunning as we see them in the jewellery stores. What most people don’t know is that diamonds are found in many colors, with the white (or colorless) ones are the most common.
Diamonds are available in almost every color of the rainbow – yellow, pink, green, purple, black, blue, grey and brown, with red diamonds being the most rare of the lot. The brown (or chocolate) diamonds get their color due to equal spacing of nitrogen atoms within the carbon lattice of the stone. The more the concentration of the atoms, the more brown the stone appears.

Chocolate diamonds are not easily found (see Australian mines) and can easily be mistaken for other colored gemstones. They come in a variety of tones - cognac, cinnamon, honey, clove and champagne (light in color with a slightly reddish cast). Cinnamon diamonds are a reddish-brown, while the cognac variety of brown diamond is a warm reddish golden-brown. Clove colored diamonds are a dark olive and honey diamonds are yellow-orange.

Since chocolate diamonds are less expensive than white diamonds, they make a excellent choice for those on a budget looking for a wedding or engagement ring, although some people just have a preference for the unique look and deep color of a chocolate diamond.

Take a look around, as there are many different styles of chocolate diamond rings, bracelets, earrings and pendants available to suit everyone’s taste. Chocolate diamonds are even available in wedding bands.
Remember diamonds and chocolates are a girls best friend!
